Bright Stars Web Technologies, a web hosting provider, is offering to one nonprofit organization (NPO) free hosting & compromise protection for a year, as well as 10% of all proceeds from client sales. This includes sales from hosting sites, repairing hacked or otherwise broken sites, & developing websites for interested clients. It will not include a domain name or website development. Migration of an existing website will be performed gratis. No guarantees regarding any additional income from sales are provided.

Who Is Eligible?

Any nonprofit with fewer than 15 full time employees or 30 part-time employees, and approved by its governing country as a bona fide NPO, is eligible to enter the contest. In the United States, this means a designation by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(C)(3) charitable organization. If a nonprofit organization outside the US is chosen, equivalent status must be proven. The winning organization should be prepared to demonstrate proof of its nonprofit status, &, if it is unable to do so, an alternate winner will be chosen.

The offer includes 1gb of hosting space, as well as 1 backup per month & is valued at $100. The offer is for hosting services only and cannot be substituted or redeemed for currency.

Contest Duration

The contest consists of 2 phases–an entry phase & a voting phase. The entry phase will begin on May 1, 2018, at 0700 UCT (midnight Mountain Standard/Pacific daylight time) & close at 06:59 UCT (11:59 PM Mountain Standard/Pacific daylight time) on May 15. Voting will begin at midnight Mountain Standard/Pacific daylight time on May 17, 2018, (0700 UCT) & close at 11:59 pm Mountain Standard/Pacific Daylight time (06:59 UCT) on May 31. The winner will be announced at the conclusion of the vote tally.

How to Enter

First, please ‘like’ this page. A legal representative of the NPO, that is, someone able to enter into a binding contract for the organization, must enter on its behalf. Terms of service are at:

The form must be completed in its entirety for the entry to be considered. Due to our limited knowledge of other languages, for which we sincerely apologize, the entry form is only available in English, and only English entries can be accepted.

The voting will also take place at this URL.

The NPO with the highest number of votes will be declared the winner. In the event of a tie, a random drawing will be held to determine a winner. Anti-bot measures will be in place to ensure that voting is only done by humans. Organizations attempting to circumvent these will be disqualified. You may only vote for 1 organization. The decision regarding the winner is final. Bright Stars Web Technologies will not be responsible for technology errors, delays, outages, acts of God, or other conditions that may cause an organization’s entry not to be received.

Since a wide variety of people will be voting for their favorite organization, in order to increase your chances of winning, you may wish to earmark proceeds for a project with broad appeal. A religious organization, for example, might want to designate proceeds for a project to buy school supplies for needy/homeless children, as opposed to simply putting them in their general fund. This would likely cause more people to vote for that particular organization.
